![]() ![]() It's something that you'd see in a YA genre, but written for adults, and I really enjoyed it. I liked the complexity and the action of this story. ![]() It’s a near-future thriller based on the idea that we could augment the human body with genetically-engineered helper organisms. I loved the characters in this book, everyone of them is complex, and there's very few who are decidedly on one side or the other of right and wrong, or who's motives are purely altruistic or malevolent. Parasiteis a story that strikes close to home, seeing as how it’s also about cousins of tapeworms taking over their human hosts. t if she's a child or a woman, and how she fits into this world that she doesn't remember and can only mostly relate to. ![]() She read like a young woman who is still trying to figure ou. She didn't read like every other scifi heroine. I really enjoyed the main character, Sal, because she is anxious, naive, and a very genuine feeling voice. And that this attempt at playing God would backfire, is also no great leap. I LOVED THIS! Set in the near future, the scenario of a medically engineered tape worm that everyone has willingly ingested in order to be safe and healthy, is not beyond the realm of belief.
